Student Ambassador Program

Employer Relations is a campus-wide entity that pursues, develops, and strengthens existing and new relationships with employers, alumni, and parents with the ultimate goal of every Wake Forest student finding meaningful and relevant career opportunities.  

Employer Relations is seeking 15 to 20 student ambassadors to assist with employer interactions during the 2015-2016 academic year.

What is a student ambassador?  Ambassadors serve as official representatives of Wake Forest to existing and potential employers. The ambassadors will be responsible for assisting the Employer Relations team with outreach, employer on campus experience, event execution, and employer relationship management.  They will also be asked to assist in large campus-wide special event.

  • LEAD  You will be able to practice, hone and demonstrate your leadership skills as you fill an important campus-wide role.
  • LIAISE  You will be a Wake Forest liaison in the critical space between employers and students.
  • LEARN  You will learn more about the organizations that recruit at Wake Forest through various employer events.

How do I become a student ambassador?

  • Undergraduates
    • You will need to apply between 3/16 and 3/31.
    • Candidates will be screened and interviews held between 4/1 and 4/16.
    • Selections will be announced 4/17.
    • You may choose a training date of 9/1 or 9/2 if selected for the program.
  • Master of Arts in Management
    • You will need to apply between 7/20 and 7/31.
    • Candidates will be screened and interviews held between 8/3 and 8/13.
    • Selections will be announced 8/14.
    • You may choose a training date of 9/1 or 9/2 if selected for the program.

What will I do during orientation and training?

You will learn about:

  • The Ambassador program
  • Wake Forest University, the various schools & programs and the Employer Relations area
  • On-campus recruiting & organizations that recruit at Wake Forest
  • Event promotion
  • Event execution & followup

What does the Employer Relations Student Ambassador program look like?  Your primary role will be to manage the event once the organizations arrive on campus.  This will include:

  • Greeting recruiters
  • Assisting them with setting up the event
  • Signing students in to the event
  • Introducing the recruiters as well as participating faculty and staff to students in the room
  • Taking notes during the event
  • Make other students feel comfortable asking questions by leading with some of your own
  • Sending a thank you note to the recruiters following the event

How can I make a difference as an ambassador?  Employers are on campus to see students.  You will be the face of Wake Forest to recruiters on the event day.  You can make a difference by promoting the event to Wake Forest students with the goal of creating a beneficial visit for the employer and by putting your very best foot forward on the event day (professional dress and demeanor, courteous and helpful attitude).

Are there any additional requirements?  Students must not be on academic probation and must maintain at least a 3.0 average while they are an ambassador.
